It was a busy morning getting ready to head out to Roseburg to play at the Douglas Co fair. We had a checklist of guitars, the set list, and all my luggage since I was heading back to Nashville after the 2 days of shows. 25 min late, 1 lost phone, 3 trips back into the house after being all buckled in and only 2 fussy comments and we were out the door! I love to drive in Oregon. With the huge green trees that hit the backdrop of carmel hills and sky scrapping mountains on the horizon, there are few sights that are more beautiful and calming to me. I had nerves in my stomach as I always do before I play anywhere, but It was a comfort to be riding in the car with my dad, listening to country music, drinking my Starbucks and looking out over the landscape of my old home.
Once we got there, we got settled in and played our first set. After that, we had time to hang out and roam around. The fair, any fair really, is one of my favorite places. The people watching is unmatched, but more than that, It is another one of those comfort zones that lets the child in you meet up with the you now for a funnel cake, barrel racing, cow petting, music filled, farris wheel ride. I love it and I always have.
The staff at the Douglas Co Fair were very accommodating and great to work with, and the special people I was blessed to meet and share music with made the weekend one to remember. Hope you enjoy a few clips of the show!
